The CD Release party was loads of fun - photos to be posted shortly! Shadowplay is a great little club - DJ Donimo spins music I like dancing to, so he’ll get my vote every time! Tim and Dan are good folks and easy to work with and as I suspected, The Stud proved a good venue for us. The stage was a bit small - it was cramped with only Kalib and Mark - but the profusion of go-go blocks made up for it in my mind. And congratulations to our raffle winners! CDs and Paddles were won and enjoyed!
The only glitch in the evening’s festivities came later, when Mark’s gear was stolen from his car. It’s a big glitch - personally, I think artist and musician materials should be held sacred by the community - obviously there are those who think (and act) otherwise. Avalon Rising will be having a benefit show on Saturday, October 15th to help Mark recoup the cost of replacing his gear. Details to be had on the Avalon Rising site - check it out if you can!
09.29.05

It’s all at the Stud at 9th & Harrison in San Francisco’s SoMA district. Hope to see you there! Wear your Cuir Bleu shirt for FREE ENTRY until 11:30pm!

folsom street fair was a blast! It was estimated that nearly 350,000 people attended this year’s leather fest! The view up Folsom Street from the 7th Street Stage was pretty amazing. It was great seeing alot of our fans there, and we made some new friends. Mark Ungar joined us on bass and guitar and really brought out the “rock” in electronic rock! Thank you’s go out to our fabulous Black and Bleu Crew, to the volunteers who helped us put it all together, and to Sparky and Putanesca at the 7th Street Stage.
09.17.05

this past weekend was spent at an incredible private event, called the “night of revelation”. this is a showcase performance from a class called “the sacred art of the striptease”, taught by diane greenberg in the northern bay area. i have been invited to perform as the headliner for this event for two years, and it’s an incredible experience! for more information, check out sacredstriptease.com or link to pixie’s blog for more details of the weekend. photos will be posted shortly! - pixie
07.17.05
after much consideration we’ve reworked the format for the current album, splitting it into three eps of six songs each. these will be followed by a dvd of the band’s videos, for a set of four. the first release will be titled “slip away”; expected street date for this album is september 6th. i’ll keep everyone posted regarding a record release party (or two)! for now, you can download a demo version of the title track here.
07.01.05 come join the fun!
cuir bleu will be playing at the folsom street fair in san francisco on sunday september 25th - come join pixie, kalib severin and our new go-go dancers as we take the fair by storm! for those who haven’t been before, the folsom street fair is a wild ride, and one of the largest street parties in the nation! we will let you all know what time and what stage as soon as we do. for now, if you are a photographer or videographer and are interested in capturing images of the band at folsom street, please e-mail me and let’s chat!
06.26.05 happy pride day!
for more of my thoughts on pride day, you can link to my livejournal here. we’re currently rendering tracks for remix and production - a weekend in the asylum arts studio. i’ve been working on a couple of bass lines and kalib is enjoying his new guitar. we’ve also been exploring the capabilities of his motif es keyboard - that thing’s a monster! it’s amazing what we can do with it, and i think we’ll be spending the next couple of years finding out! the current album isn’t in the can yet, and i’ve already got some thoughts for the next one. i’ve learned alot about production during this project, and what it takes to make not just a record - but a good one. so that’s where you’ll find us this weekend... in the studio, making our dreams into reality. as ever, if you are interested in booking the band, want to receive a cd sampler, or have any thoughts to share on the band, please e-mail me. and drop in on the cuir bleu store on cafepress.com for cool swag! ~ pixie
06.04.05
wow - has it really been a month? time flies when you’re making a record! the biggest news is that all 12 songs are back from our engineer, bobby cochran. we now have a full white label copy of the new album! a huge thanks goes out here once again to the review crew (you know who you are) for doing a kick-ass job of reviewing the tracks and sending in such thorough commentary for us. now it’s on us to take it to the next level. we have a few ideas in mind for further production and mastering, so stay tuned!
in other news, kalib just bought a beautiful new guitar (a semi-hollow electric) and is having quite a bit of fun with it. this should give chris-the-roadie a new fun toy to play with when we gig! for those wondering when we’ll be out of the studio and playing live again, sois patiente! we may break our fast on this year’s folsom street fair, which is always a blast - short sweet and lots o’ leather - we’ll keep you posted!
05.05.05 (what a cool date!)
we’ve been going through the tracks, reviewing vocals, mixes, track order and all that. i think the july date was a bit optimistic - we’ll more likely get the album released late in t fall or winter. it was hard to realize that, but it’s more important to us that we get it right and release the best possible record, than that we run on time for an arbitrary schedule. the cuir bleu review crew has been doing a great job - everyone is really devoting time and thought to listening and to getting back useful comments and critiques. we couldn’t do it alone, so thank you - and keep the comments coming! click here to review by listening online.
04.13.04
the first four tracks are due in from our engineer, bobby cochran shortly - time to start reviewing! if you have an interest in joining the cuir bleu review crew, e-mail me and we’ll get a cd or files to you. we’ll be going over (and over) each song, and want to gather other people’s views and opinions. the more input the better - this album is gonna rock! (and groove and get you dancing!)
04.03.05
we just finished recording all the vocal tracks for the album up in ukiah at laughing coyote studios. so far it all sounds great, and we’re very excited! check out the crew page, pixie pix and kalib shots for studio photos from the weekend!
03.10.05
july 12th is the release date our label, asylum arts, has set for cb’s upcoming album, blue leather. this gives them plenty of time to perfect the tracks and to set up gigs and promotions for the band. they are also working to improve our mailing list, so that we can be sure you are all kept in the loop!
02.13.05
at long last - the cuir bleu store is open for business! thanks to cafepress.com, you can buy cool band logo t-shirts, coffee mugs, teddy bears and the like! far too cool not to check it out. pixie says she is planning to buy a black sweat suit that they have available now for spring. very important to keep warm in the studio!
02.11.05
ok, here it is! for those with a taste for such things, pixie’s blog (pixie_bleu) is now active at livejournal.com. take a peek, become a friend or just check out where pixie and kalib may next appear... it’s all there.
02.09.05 - from pixie
for those who’ve been waiting... we’ve decided the official working title for the upcoming album is “blue leather” ... ah, i love leather! meanwhile, in other thoughts... i’ve been considering some sort of blog. i don’t have time to write every day (takes alot of time to make all this band stuff happen!) but it occurs to me that some of you might like to hear more of the blow-by-blow. so... please send thoughts or comments to: pixie@cuirbleu.com and let me know if you want to see one posted!
01.31.05
we survived the move and the studio is up and running. pixie just worked out a new chorus for the most recent track, “brass pole”. the final vocals on all the tracks will be done at bobby cochran’s studio in northern california sometime in late feb, early march, so the spring release of the album is still on the mark.
the track list so far is:
- take a picture
- deliverance
- the city
- slip away
- i’m your lover
- brass pole
- haunted play
- touch
- falling through mirrors
- blue leather (cuir bleu)
- sex toy
- branded (part ii)
two songs, darkside and sweet little girl will have to wait for the second cd.
--kalib
12.27.04
the studio move is set for jan 8th. wish us sunny skies!
11.24.04
still reworking the album. we’ve decided to keep it simple as we now have several versions of each song but are returning to the originals--reconnecting with where we began. also we are in the process of relocating the studio. this moves the album out to spring.
10.30.04
folsom street and exotic erotic were not to be this year. a blessing in disguise as we have been so busy. the album is progressing and has a new track called “brass pole”. production came to a halt when chris started producing some amazing new arrangements of the tracks, so we have decided to go back and rework many of the songs which will delay the album.
this has given us a chance to write some great new songs for the second album. these tracks have a very different feel and we want to share one with you...
sweet little girl (demo)
