the making of an album...

our current album project has been in the works for approximately two years. demo versions for some of the songs were originaly created in the asylum arts studio in 2001 with newer songs added in 2003 and 2004. our indie record label, asylum arts, will be releasing a set of three eps and one music video dvd. the first run of each will be numbered, limited editions. you can check out some of the highlights of this project below... or click to get directly to the order page.

 

design crew...

our incredible front cover design incorporates an original oil painting by thomas asmuth at aw studios in oakland. cloud chamber art on the cd itself is by thomas asmuth as well. the fabulous band photo on the inside cover was taken by rebecca wilson, who can also be found at aw studios. original pixie line drawing was created by oakland artist fernando reyes. cover design including layout, pixie logo and asylum arts logo by duarte multimedia.

 

special edition back covers...

dark garden: the first special edition cover is for dark garden unique corsetry . the front will have thomas asmuth’s beautiful oil painting and the back will feature a band photo by bay area fetish photographer larry utley.

stormy leather: the second special back cover is for stormy leather eurotique and will feature a shot of pixie and kalib taken by tim woodward. tim is the publisher for london’s skin two magazine and this photo was featured in their 40th anniversary issue in 2002.

production crew...

eric reynolds - mastering. eric reynolds of trancefusion music will be mastering the first ep, “slip away”. this will be the first time eric has worked on a cuir bleu project, and we’re very excited to have him on board! you can check out the trancefusion website. rumor has it that eric may be remixing “sex toy” as the title track for an upcoming ep!

bobby cochran - engineer. we met bobby while working on cleo dubois’ video, “tie me up”- both cuir bleu and bobby’s band, “hands upon black earth”, contributed music for the score. bobby is a talented musician, engineer and producer who took the reins on preliminary production for the album, turning our scratch demos into professional tracks. we recorded all of the current vocal takes with bobby at laughing coyote studios in ukiah. the first ep will feature bobby’s mix of the title track “slip away”.
